Internet Job: Searching for Jobs
How you search for jobs on the Internet depends on how the individual site is structured. At some sites, you must first register even if you can search for free. In this section, we’ll look at how to search for a job at America’s Job Bank. At this site, you can post your résumé for free, and you can search the jobs database for free and without registering. You can search by occupation, keyword, military code, and job number. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Open the America’s Job Bank site.
Go to http://www.ajb.dni.us/seeker. This site’s home page.
2. Click the Search link.
3. Select how to search.
Click the link to Occupation, Keyword, Military Code, or Job Number. For purposes of example, click Occupation.
4. Select a job title.
Click the Select Job Title button to open the page. Follow the onscreen instructions to select a job title. When you’ve made a selection, you’ll again see the Occupation Search page, which will display your job title in place of the Select Job Title button.
5. Start the search.
You can now specify a location by entering a zip code and the number of miles from that zip code you’d be willing to work. To start the search, click Search Now. We searched on the job title Database Administrator and found 66 jobs within our geographical location. To view a job description, click the button in the View column.
